I am delighted to announce to students & parents that the 7th Punjab Battalion National Cadet Corps (NCC) in Gurdaspur has granted NCC affiliation to our college starting from the academic session of 2024-25. This marks the fulfilment of a longstanding request, eagerly anticipated and now realized this year. About the College
Recognized by University Grants Commission under section 2(f) and 12 (B) of the UGC Act, 1956 vide F.No. 8-407/2012 (CPP-I/C) dated July 2012, Guru Nanak Dev University College, Narot Jaimal Singh, Pathankot came into existence in the year 2011. The college is situated in the most backward area of Punjab which is 12 Km from Indo-Pak Border and 15 Km from Kathua (Jammu & Kashmir). It is the only college which caters to the educational needs of nearly more than 85 surrounding villages. Being situated at the Indo-Pak Border, Guru Nanak Dev University College, Narot Jaimal Singh provides a ray of hope for the people of this belt for getting qualitative higher education, thereby making them self-reliant in every sphere of life. The vision of the institution is to develop human resources to meet contemporary challenges of the Society so the students are enlightened with the blend of traditional, professional courses along with extension activities including sports, extra-curricular and NSS activities and instilling the moral and ethical values in the mind of students for their holistic development. College has received grants for UGC, ICSSR etc. for conducting Workshop, National Seminars and Add on Course. Nearly thousand students belonging to under privileged section of society are pursuing higher studies in college. The college runs various undergraduate, post graduate courses and diplomas in the stream of Arts, Science, Commerce and IT as BA, B.Com., B.Sc. (Fashion Designing), B.Sc. (Computer Science, Economics and Non-Medical), BCA, DCA, DLIB, PGDCA, M.A.(Punjabi), M.A.(History), M.Sc. (Mathematics) with marked strength. The college has three effervescent units of NSS under National Service Scheme with the rudimentary objective of providing a dice for the students to participate in social work.
Students can register and join themselves by filling required NSS form in college. The college also organises seven-day camp in the adopted village to identify the needs of the village and to give them new idea. In the college, NCC also has been started from session 2024-25. Labs & Library: In the college, Computer Labs are well equipped with Networking, WIFI, Computers and Furniture. Physics and Chemistry Labs have been updated with a number of new gadgets. Fashion Designing Labs are fully equipped with basic but very necessary infrastructure like Sewing machines, mannequins, Dummies, Tables, Chairs, Almirahs and Pigeon hole lockers for the students. The college has well stacked library with books of different disciplines. Wehavevery nominal fee structure for the welfare of students. Eco Club: Under Eco club, we organise so many activities to aware our students. Post Matric Scholarship: Last year 2023-24, 607 students applied for Post Matric Scholarship scheme of Punjab Govt. Councils and Committees: The college performs its assigned tasks and responsibilities through a number of bodies like Alumni Association, Student Council, Publication Committee, Sexual Harassment Committee, Students Grievance Redressal Committee etc. The college periodically conducts Workshops, Regional and National Seminars, Student Departmental Academic Activities, Guest Lectures and Industrial visits for its students. The Unique pedagogical practices of college are largely responsible for its overall growth. With effect from academic session 2025-26 the college will start its new PG course M.A. Geography and Diploma in Nanny Care & Nutrition. Various UGC/ICSSR sponsored seminars are organized by Commerce, Sociology, History, Computer Science departments of our college.
